The Homeowners’ Goals & Challenges
A Dark, Closed-Off Kitchen
Before the remodel, the kitchen was visually and physically cut off from the family room and sunroom. Natural light was limited, and the household found it difficult to interact while moving between rooms.
Limited Storage & Inefficient Layout
A small pantry and an underutilized desk area offered little value. The entry off the garage, one of the busiest points of the home, felt cramped and provided no meaningful organization.
The Vision: Light, Connection & Cohesive Design
The clients hoped for an open layout that encouraged visibility, improved daily function, and made entertaining more enjoyable. They wanted fresh, timeless finishes and a natural palette that felt elevated but livable.
Design Direction & Aesthetic
Timeless Elegance with Modern Functionality
From the beginning, the design direction centered on clean lines, warm textures, and simplicity executed beautifully.
A Warm, Natural Palette
- White perimeter cabinetry
- Warm, furniture-style wood pieces
- Brass hardware and fixtures
- Veined porcelain slabs
- Light hardwood flooring
This created a cohesive flow from room to room, making the entire home feel brighter.
Craftsmanship at the Forefront
One of the defining characteristics of the Brookfield Remodel is the level of craftsmanship woven into every room. Each piece of custom cabinetry feels more like fine furniture than built-in storage: warm wood tones, intentional proportions, and meticulously crafted door profiles create a sense of permanence and elegance.
Layered lighting plays an equally important role in elevating the design. Instead of relying on a single light source, we thoughtfully combined architectural lighting, decorative fixtures, and task illumination to create depth and warmth throughout the home. Visual Comfort pendants, directional lights, and brass sconces work together to sculpt each space, highlighting textures, brightening work zones, and creating a soft, inviting atmosphere in the evenings.
Architectural details add the finishing touch. Clean trim lines, intentional wall openings, and subtle millwork moments (like the board-and-batten in the mudroom) give each room structure and character without feeling fussy.
The Kitchen Transformation
Opening Up the Heart of the Home
The most dramatic change came from removing the dividing wall between the kitchen and family room. Enlarged pass-through openings toward the sunroom let natural light spread across all three spaces.

The Range Wall Focal Point
A custom hood sits above a luxurious AGA range, framed by a full-height porcelain slab backsplash and elegant brass pot filler for a classic but stylish statement.
Walk-In Pantry Upgrade
From Desk Nook to Dream Pantry
By removing the former kitchen desk area, we expanded the pantry footprint significantly, creating a highly functional walk-in pantry. This hidden but beautiful extension supports serious organization and preserves the kitchen’s uncluttered aesthetic for entertaining.
Smart Storage That Supports Daily Life
Inside the pantry:
- Deep shelving painted in a dramatic dark tone
- Dedicated small appliance zones
- Generous room for dry goods
- Pocket doors that hide the space when hosting
Custom Cabinetry Throughout the Home
Furniture-Style Hutch
A stunning wood hutch with glass-front uppers provides display and storage for dishware and serving pieces with a charming, vintage-inspired look.
Full-Height Storage Wall
In an adjacent area, floor-to-ceiling cabinetry adds incredible organization, a discreet, beautiful solution for seasonal items, linens, and more.

Reclaiming Space for Real Life

Statement Powder Room
A Dramatic Jewel Box for Guests
Small bathrooms are the perfect canvas for bold design. This powder room embraces:
- Deep navy walls
- Brass fixtures
- Elegant console sink
- Sculptural lighting
- Large abstract art
It’s sophisticated, moody, and memorable, providing a playful moment to refresh, or a show-stopping surprise for company.
Living Spaces & Piano Room Enhancements
Light-Filled Rooms for Connection
The living spaces now feel cohesive and relaxed, with warm neutrals and tactile textures that complement the kitchen’s design language.
Limestone Fireplace with Clean Lines
The new fireplace surround adds quiet elegance and ties together the larger living area.
Custom Cabinetry in the Piano Room
Matching warm wood tones continue here, creating unity across the home.
Engineering & Build Challenges
Creating a Floating, Continuous Pass-Through Countertop
The biggest challenge, and one of the most striking results, was engineering a continuous porcelain countertop that expands through two pass-through openings.
With no visible supports, the slab appears to float effortlessly.
How We Solved It
Our team worked collaboratively with engineers to design concealed bracing that maintained the slab’s structural integrity while preserving clean, architectural lines.
